Vor allem junge Künstler sind auf dem Gebiet der zeitgenössischen Fotografie in den letzten Jahren mit interessanten Arbeiten hervorgetreten. Die 24jährige Eva Petrič arbeitet im Bereich der narrativen Fotografie. Als leidenschaftliche Geschichtenerzählerin und Rollenspielerin versetzt sie die eigene Persönlichkeit in die fiktiven Welten ihrer Fotoaufnahmen in Eigenregie. Die 24jährige zählt zur neuen Kunstszene aus Zentraleuropa, die sich durch ihre Versiertheit am internationalen Kunstmarkt behauptet. Heuer waren ihre Arbeiten zum Beispiel unter dem Motto Slovene Women Photographers bei der internationalen Messe für Gegenwartskunst in Prag. Eva Petrič, die in den Bereichen Malerei, Fotografie, Installation und Video arbeitet, absolvierte auch eine Ballettausbildung und verfasste Drehbücher für Film und Video. Ihr Lyrikband This space is a box wird demnächst publiziert. Ihr Motiv Repertoire findet sie im Fundus der Märchen und Mythen, die sie mit neuen Inhalten auflädt. Petrič,: "What does the edge of photography look like? Is it flat or round? With my photography I want to extend horizons, deepen the depths of the sky and raise the heights of the ocean, beyond the edges of my camera, and show that the world is not flat nor round.  I want to show that just because you don't see something it doesn't mean it is not really there and in the same way, just because you do see something, it doesn't mean it is actually there. Thus I dress my photography in plexi and wax to lure my viewers on the treasure hunt for the image, responsible for the message of my photography. By going beneath the wax one can imagine what the image would be without the wax covering the photo. Yet by acquiring this the treasure is not fully disclosed. It comes out in its entirety only after one is also able to imagine what the picture could be with the wax over it after it has been removed"

Die Künstlerin, die jahrelang in New York gelebt hat, studiert visual art and new media an der Webster University in Wien. Sie beteiligte sich international an zahlreichen Ausstellungen, in Wien zuletzt bei Europe - Museum of Young Art. Heuer folgten die Ausstellungen im Cankarjev Dom Cultural Performing Center und im City Art Museum in Ljubljana. Im Rahmen des Europäischen Monats der Fotografie werden Ihre Fotoarbeiten zur Zeit im Slowenischen Wissenschaftsinstitut in Wien, und in der Galerie Suppan contemporary gezeigt.
